Melanie Anderson Goes the Extra Mile to Support Women’s College
In a brilliant example of thinking outside the box, Melanie Anderson is raising funds for WCHF…and going to Hawaii to do so!
Later this month, Melanie and her husband Alan are traveling to Hawaii, to participate in the 2009 Honolulu Marathon on December 13th.
“I’ve always been athletic, and took up running about 6 years ago,” says Melanie. “My first Marathon was Honolulu in 2006, and I’m thrilled to be going back for 2009!”
Melanie, who owns The Nail Lady salon in Markham ON, realized that her efforts in Honolulu could provide a great fundraising opportunity, and naturally thought of Women’s College.
“I had two of my boys – who are now 18 and 19 – at Women’s College and have great memories of the care I received. In addition, both my and Alan’s mothers are breast cancer survivors, so to honour them and to give back to Women’s College, I decided to raise funds for the Women’s College Hospital Breast Centre.”
Melanie has been raising funds from her clients and suppliers at The Nail Lady, and looks forward to presenting a cheque to WCHF in support of the WCH Breast Centre.
We extend thanks and best wishes to Melanie as she embarks on this exciting adventure!
